[Movie Schmovie] A Love Story

In a rare moment in history, Aga Muhlach won over Jason Bourne. Imagine that. Keyce, Epay, Rni, and I saw the 10:10 pm show of "A Love Story", whose premise I thought glorified mistresses. Aba. There was a moral in the sotry. My favorite lines, "Hindi lahat ng nagpapasaya sa yo ay tama." and "Ayaw ko nang punan ang kulang" Champion. Maricel portrays the very mature mistress. Overall, the story was pretty good. All the main characters were portrayed very well by Aga, Angelica, and Maricel. We were pleasantly surprised at Angelica's dramatic chops. I'm not really a big Aga fan. But I think I like his performance in this movie best. He lost a lot of weight and wasn't shy about showing off his abs. Hehehe. Wish all mistresses are as wise as Joana (Maricel's character). Deng. No thanks to a guy with a lot of baggage. Haha.

Hi! My friend and your friend Gail directed me to your blog.

Thank you for watching the movie, and for the positive feedback. I'm glad you liked the fact that the movie made an ethical stand. :-) There was never intention, on my part at least, to glorify adultery. That's why I structured the film that way: the choice of betraying a spouse causes a disorder in the emotions and in the thought process of those in the affair. And it is this disorder in the faculties that leads them to hurt themselves and those they say they love. Which is why when Ian asked

I'd like to believe that there are still people out there like Joanna who can rise above their emotions and choose what is right. I'd also like to think that there are errant husbands like Ian who can find their way back, and that they do find their way back when they have upright and forgiving wives like Karyn.

And just like you, I am floored by the fact that Aga, Maricel and Angelica trumped Matt Damon. I really do pray for the day that Filipino movies will reign supreme over Hollywood productions. That possibility will turn to reality only if the audience will demand more from local film outfits.

BTW, where did you watch the movie?

Once again, thank you.

Sorry. For some reason I mistakenly pressed the "publish" button. Sorry for the typos.

There was never ANY intention, on my part at least, to glorify adultery. ... Which is why when Ian UTTERED THE RHETORICAL QUESTION, "Paano kung ikaw ang una kong minahal?" TO JOANNA, SHE HAD TO FINALLY REPLY, "Hindi nga eh." THE TRUTH IS, HE WOULDN'T HAVE LOVED HER IF HE DIDN'T LOVE KARYN FIRST. THAT WAS THE ORDER OF EVENTS. THAT WAS THE TRUE ORDER OF HIS LIFE, AND ASKING "What if" WASN'T GOING TO CHANGE THAT FACT.

Oh wow!! I feel so honored that the writer of "A Love Story" found her way to my humble blog! Welcome Vanessa!

Truth be told, I succumbed to Aga again today, and I accompanied my friend to watch "A Love Story". She liked it as well, and we both had a good discussion about relationships after watching it. I told her as the end credits were rolling, "Ang galing diba? Walang contrabida?" It was a human story.

Yesterday, I saw it at the Powerplant Mall (the 10:10pm show was packed), and today, my friend and I saw it at Glorietta 4. For both movies, I saw it from beginning till end.

Good job on writing the story! I wish there'd be more mature women in the world... and great, mature men who deserve them.
