Ni Hao 2008, Day 2

Vacation mode for our second day here in Hong Kong! Obviously exhausted from the day before, we all got out of bed past 9 A.M.! Kars and I are loving the duvet! We're both breakfast peeps, too. The buffet selection at YMCA is pretty impressive! I had my usual cereal and other beefast goodies.

Today is our scheduled Hong Kong Island day. We were in no hurry whatsoever, so we ended up leaving the hotel a little before 12. We wanted Remy to experience all the modes of transportation Hong Kong had to offer!

First mode of transpo for today... Star Ferry! A must do, several travel sites have said. A cheap and nice way to see Hong Kong Island from a distance.

Kars wanted to take a your-profile-against-the- HK backdrop photo, but we realized we innately didn't have the bone structure for a nice profile picture. Haha.

The ferry docked at the HK Island Pier. We walked the long walk. Thankfully, there was a long covered walk from the pier to the Central business district.

We immediately saw throngs of Filipinas, happily cavorting. The onslaught of Pinays certainly helped us when we were finding our way. Hehe.

We then took the tram to Causeway Bay. It was not as fast as the MTR, but riding it was an experience of the senses. Interesting busy view of the HK and interesting aroma of the passengers of the tram.

Haha. We weren't sure which stop to get off, so we asked our seatmate and she helped us. We got off the Causeway Bay stop and walked up the street to Times Square. I did my duties to Madam Grouchy at the Gucci store (Yas, kasing mahal lang yung bag sa Singapore!).

We learned our lesson from yesterday's long drawn out stroll of Ocean Terminal/Harbour City Mall. So when we got to Times Square, we got on the elevator, sped up to the top most floor. Then took the trip straight down. Haha.

We crossed the street to Lee Theatre Mall. Checked out Muji, this Ikea-esque Japanese store. Went back to Times Square to have lunch at City Super.

Then we rode the MTR back to Central for the much awaited trip to the super Hennes & Mauritz. Otherwise known as H&M!

So what was my H&M experience like?? Two words. Headless chicken. Haha. We spent a good one hour in H&M. I got Christmas presents, crossing out 11 names on my too-long Christmas list. Yey! I can't wait for H&M to open in Manila.

To recharge and rest our tired shopping feet, I had a Caramel Macchiato at a nearby Starbucks.

After coffee, we hailed a cab to go to St. Joseph's church. When Remy hopped on, she felt something poking her. She grasped the object and found a blackberry behind her!

She hastily and nervously gave it to Karina. Who then passed it to me! My first instinct was to check the call log and call the last person the owner called. No one picked up. We tried a couple other peeps when we finally got connected to "JC". We explained the situation to him and he agreed to meet us at the church. 15 minutes into the 6pm mass, JC arrived and thanked us for finding the phone.

The 6PM mass at St. Joseph, was yet again another Pinoy-palooza. The choir members were Filipinas, and it was touching to see hard working OFWs (who were 95% women), praying.

After mass, we walked up Garden Road to the Peak Tram Station.

The line wasn't very long, so we easily got on board the tram. The ride was good! Pretty steep, and the view of lit-HK was spectacular.

When we reached the Peak, we went around, looking for where we can get good pics. Finally settled by Burger King. We took a lot of nice pics. Thanks to changes to the exposure and steady hands.

We walked around the Peak and later discovered there was a free viewing deck. Dinner tonight was served up by Burger King.

Back down to Central we went, after a lot of photo ops. The walk was pretty decent! A good 15 minutes (without the tourist stops). We rode the MTR back to TST. Pft! What a tiring day!
