Vietnam Vacay 2008, Day 4
A more relaxing day for our last day in 'Nam. Our flight back home was at 1AM Tuesday. We had the entire day Monday to finish up with our shopping. Our trusty hotel bellboys gave us a good tip about An Dong Plaza, not a very touristy place. It's similar to Tutuban Mall.
Anyway, our favorite store is this one, which sold local delicasies! Several kilos of squid and spicy beef later, we hauled all of our purchases back to the hotel.
The ladies went out again. Hunt for art this time around! We found this really nice painting of Vietnamese vendors. We're excited about framing it and eventually hanging it in our newly renovated home.
Dinner for Day 4 was at Qua An Ngon, also on Macky's list of must-try restos. It was a very busy restaurant. But the service was good! Lots of locals and tourists. Price was fair and the food was good! Happy and full tourists!
On our way out of the resto, we passed by open kitchen, where all the Vietnamese goodies were made. Bananas and chilis! Wootwoot!
Back to the hotel for a pre-departure shower. Before we knew it, we said goodbye to our hotel room and were on our way to the airport.
Overall, it was a good vacation! The first ever Geocaniga family vacay (all five of us complete) outside the country. The food was excellent! We did not tire eating Vietnamese food. Healthy stuff! The best fried rice (was tasty, but it wasn't as greasy as the typical chinese fried rice) and grilled prawns ever. The Vietnamese people are generally simple (not a lot of frills). They're hella resilient, given what their country has been through. On my list of places to go to... HANOI! Vinh our tour guide mentioned it's worth the trip. Halong Bay's beautiful. Next time then!
