Madam Grouchy's Bridal Shower
Party people, Cel and I are! We organized Madam Yas's bridal shower with her friends last Thursday. It was a bit of a challenge for working ladies like myself and Cel. Haha. But our innate party planning talents and sheer love for Yas made the party a smashing hit!
The theme was "Down Under", free to interpretation of course. Haha. Everyone knows Yas is migrating to the land of Oz so we picked this theme appropriately. We got a room at Prince Plaza 2. Cel did her decorating magic and transformed this gloomy looking place into.... a less gloomy place on a Aussie Independence Day. Haha.
In attendance were Mary, Pin, Jerry, Ging, Litz, Sheryll, Rina, Jen, and myself. We had a simple feast of Pizza, Bugong Chicken, and cookies. Lotsa chips!
The games started a little after dinner. My huge thanks to Rosan's bridal shower exactly a year before for the games! First activity was the create your own bridal gown made of tissue paper game. The girls got their creative juices pumping!
Jerry was a cute cute model!
Mary showed off her Japanese inspired Obie belt and bolero sleeves
Litz proudly carried her bouquet and a sneak preview.
In the end, Mary emerged victorious, thanks to Cel's very animated description of the dress.
After the tissue gown game, the girls gathered around Yas for a round of "He Said, She Said." Of course, the hosts (Cel and myself) having green, dirty minds, made the questions and the answers more interesting and hilarious! Yas took cocktail shots if her answers didn't match the answers Al gave. And well... let's just say that at the end of the game, Yas was smiling ear to ear. Haha.
Then we had one of Yas and Cel's favorite games ever. Charades!! Of course, Charades Bridal Party edition had the category of Filipino porn flicks. My favorite Yasmin guess was "Unanong Eyebag/Pimple" for our lame attempt to act out "Totoy Mola". Of course, a close second was Yas's guess of "Patikim ng Papaya" for the correct answer "Patikim ng Pinya". Jen conceded that she couldn't stop laughing. This was also sort of a drinking game, so we were merrily charade-ing towards the end of the game.
It was gift giving time after that! The girls lined up to give their "Down Under" themed gifts! And wadayaknow?! Madam grouchy ended up receiving a year's supply of pH Care from Jen, His and Hers Razor Shavers from Cel and myself, an animal print thong, a lingerie set, whipped cream, and a complete bridal beauty paraphernalia set.
As the evening was widing down, our last activity was the "Payong Kaibigan" game, where the girls were asked to give sexual advice to Yas. We all wrote our advice anonymously and Yas had to guess who gave the advice. If she guessed it right, the person who gave the advice would take a shot, and if she guessed it wrong, she had to drink.
It was certainly a nice segue to the real shop talk. Haha.
Although some of us met each other for the first time, we all had a grand time, laughing our asses off and making lots of side comments. I hope Grouchy enjoyed herself as much as we did!
