Rockin Fabulous Weekend
Long weekend, all souls days, all saints day... In Tenten's calendar of events... Long road trips, all night laughter, all night partey! Mr. Jose Cuervo was once again my friend... good friend.... ok fine, best friend!
Friday night extended to Saturday morning. I was working my ass off, attempting to cover all the testing tasks I needed to do befor the weekend started. When I arrived at home, with all my party paraphernelia in tow, Issang and I tried our-then-not-clean hands at creating the signature hawaiian accessory - the lei. Using purple crepe paper. Our second attempt did it. Issang hit the sack after we packed our party prep stuff and I stayed up, drafting the script for the evening's program. I think I barely got some shut-eye when my phone alarm went off.
We left the house at 7:30 am. Lolo Ric was a co-passenger. He told us interesting stories from the war. Aguirre Family stuff. We stopped by the Shell station along NLEX, where Tita Marison's car refueled... and so did I (at the adjacent Starbucks). Tall White Chocolate Mocha... on Tita! Hehe!
We arrived at the Tanquilut ancestral home (I just like saying that! Sounds so... old rich. Haha!) a little past ten, and the set-up began. Crepe paper everywhere, pineapples here and there. The hours passed by, my mind slept while my eyes stayed open (a physiological mystery, I tell you). The final product was just lovely! It was the Hawaii we always dreamt of... Only we nowhere near any actual beaches (will the Mega Dike count?). Our imagination just flew. Love was everywhere, as sappy as it may sound. Everyone pitched in, energies surging from "Lost in Emotion" and "Le Freak" blaring on the speakers. Issang and I took a 30 minute nap after everything was set and we hastily got up, took our much needed baths.... and the program began.
I'd have to say... technical difficulties, and hula hoop malfunctions aside, it was one of the funnest parties ever in the history of parties in 2005 (well... although Lola's 83rd birthday was a blast!). It was our debut as event stylists (what a fun but extremely exhausting job!). And the look on Tita Guste's face, Priceless.
The evening wasn't over after our final dance number of the theme from Pinoy Big Brother. The real action had just begun. Ahhhh.... Tequila. What can I say?
