For Real...

Jusme!! Ngayon pa lang ako makakablog again! How crazy is that?!

These past two days have been a flurry of activities. Mostly preparation for the trip. Maraming mga last minute na pinagagawa rin sa amin since we're rolling off dun sa project where we got loaned to. Today, I was in the office at 7 AM! Tapos not one idle moment! Meetings here and there. Emailing... Basta ang dami! Ayan... I finally got to breathe ng mga 830pm. Hehe! I went to Makati to meet up with sina Mike Pangs, Boom, Marian, and Lea. I had a really fun time with them. Kwento lang si Mike Pangs about his trip sa Singapore at kung ano pa. So we're not DIS-ganged after all!

I still refuse to believe that this is really it. After several months of waiting for confirmation, we're leaving this Sunday. I have my ticket, my visa... I'm partially packed and I have a million things I still need to do. Demn...

Anyways, here's a glimpse of the office space I left in Cybergate:

Here are the founding members of the Optus Focus team who will be going to Sydney. So far, we seem to be a pretty fun bunch.

I received my apartment address... and so far, I know of no one else who lives in the same area! Boohoo!

Anyways, tis past 3 and I have an 8AM meeting! Time to hit the sack!

Toosday Flurry

Color coding day today for Pops' car. Hence, I was in the office before 7AM! I really didn't have a lot of tasks in the morning, so I sort of breezed through the two hours. TSIs here and there. I think the flurry started sometime before lunch when I sent Mark an instant message about getting cash advance for the trip. It's been rather hazy if our trip will push through this Sunday. Frankly, I just want to know if it's really pushing through or not. So much at stake... Uh_huh2006, my personal schedule, Ate My's wedding, Lola, Tita Marison, and Camille's Beedays... Pano na ang Tanquilutfamily.blogspot?!

Anyway, the afternoon went by quickly. I think I jumped from one to do to the next. I still need to document two interviews! Argh! I plan to finish all that tomorrow morning. Wednesday afternoon... meetings galore...

I called Pesem today! It was so fun talking to him.

I was able to upload some of our pics from the weekend's Bienvenida gathering. Here's my favorite photo ('course because I'm in it!). Hehe.

Tomorrow will bring more clarity to the next few days. Clarity. Hmm... John Mayer had a song about it. I've been pondering over it the entirety of last year. Clarity seems to be a luxury nowadays.

The Day After the Gloomiest Weekend of the Year

The weather seems to be in agreement with my mood. I came into the office this morning, still down from last weekend. I had to call Karina of course to tell her what happened. Then I told other people about it too. Suzie, Mike, Irene, Sam, Keysi, Aileen, Aida, and Pesem. Mackie, Mark, and Roch read my blog and left their messages. Thanks much guys!

Talking about it of course will not bring Macmac back to me, but has somehow made me feel a lot better. Bad things happen to good people, yes. But good people become stronger because of it, and they move on. That's what I plan on doing.... but before that... the hell with those evil thieves along President's Avenue in BF Paranaque!!

I had my therapeutic talk with Karina over dinner today. Tis our weekly meeting, and this time around, it was pretty sporadic. We had dinner in The Old Spaghetti House along Valero and I had this yummy cream based pasta with Majestic Ham, Olives, and Mushrooms... Yummeeee... We got to talking about the usual stuff. And I saw this really cute guy from school who was also in TOSH. I whispered to Karina, "Ano ba yan?! Parang may bigote pa yung girl na kasama nya!" and Karina told me, "Eh Ten. Lalaki naman kasi yung kasama nya eh!" Ahhh... Somehow the day just became a little brighter.

My thanks to Keysi too for making me laugh out loud while we were chatting about Fourth. Hahaha! Girl, sa Friday ha!

What will become of my car?? Mama told me that they were going to bring it to Honda for its scheduled tune up and to have the window fixed.

To all my friends and family... thanks for all the kind words.

The Gloomiest Day of the Year, part deux

Here I am again, now using Rommel's laptop. I really miss Macmac.

I've been trying to do the best I could to keep the public well informed about the incident which happened to me. I posted an entry in Philmug, wrote to Bidshot and eBay Philippines. This morning, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my heart. Lo and behold the Gloomiest Day of the year has extended till Sunday. Our remaining labrador pup passed on this morning. We hurriedly took him to the vet and the vet said he was really, really week. 2 of our pups died of aspiration. Milk filled their lungs while we were feeding them. But the vet also said that the pups were predisposed to be weak anyway, given the conditions of Kitkat's pregnancy.

I guess these are just lessons learned the hard way for me... about dog rearing and safety. I keep reminding myself that it's a good thing nothing bad happened directly to me (physically).

I know for a fact that I will get past all of this in time. Last year's incident has made me stronger, I think. But I've been having doubts of my general luck/karma. I think I've been a good person all my life. I never intentionally hurt anyone. I try to get along with all kinds of people. I'm just asking "why"? Why did these things have to happen? Why me? Although worse things could have happened. I'm just really trying to understand the "why" now (which often than not, comes far into the future). I'm looking forward to experiencing the better weekends up ahead.

We called Chris yesterday and I already asked him to get me the MacBook. MacMac's replacemet will be exactly like him. Tita Linda (although I haven't asked her hehehe) will be bring it home on August 24th. Till then...

The Gloomiest Day of the Year

I am writing this entry with the heaviest feeling in my heart...

Macmac and I parted ways today. He was stolen. Barely two months old. A group of unidentified guys broke my car's window and stole my laptop bag (where Macmac, the charger, and the mouse were). I parked my car right in front of Hit 'Em Up along President's Avenue in BF Paranaque. I was gone for an hour an when I returned, the window was slightly smashed and had fallen (in one solid piece) on the backseat. The laptop case was gone. I was just trembling when I rushed back to my cousin's clinic (where I had gone for an hour). We went to the Police Station in BF to file a complaint.

I can't believe he's gone....

There was a witness, a girl who was making bibingkas across the street, who said she saw three men beside my car. Two guys and a skinny guy with long hair. She said she recognized the skinny guy. She describes these guys to be in their early twenties and decently dressed. I retraced my steps. I had gone to Mocha Blends in BF to study and try out my computer. It was between 330-5pm that I was using it. I think these thieves might have seen me in the coffee shop, waited for me and followed me to where I parked. I'm thankful that the car was not stolen, nor that no one was hurt. But the fact that it was just that laptop bag, really leads me to believe they had seen me use it and intended to steal it and only it.

My plan of action... go back to the Police Station and have the broken window examined for finger prints (I saw a couple on the window). Also return to Mocha Blends and ask the guard on duty if he had seen anyone suspicious. I also plan to post my missing laptop's info on PhilMug. I don't know how good those guys are with reformatting a Mac.

I was crying when I spoke with Mama and Papa, super apologetic about what happened. This was Macmac's first trip out and he was stolen. I feel I should have been more careful, like concealing the bag or bringing it with me to the clinic. But irregardless, I think they really planned to steal it. I was going to hear mass and have dinner with Lery. So they could have followed me to any of those places, or worse, forced me into giving them my laptop.

I just hate the feeling of being a victim of theft. My PDA was stolen a month ago and today my laptop. BF isn't even a safe place anymore. And the coffee shops with WIFI are viewed by these thieves as a pool of possible victims.

The sadness doesn't end there though. Two of our pups passed on today. Only one yellow lab remains. It was so sad to see the send yellow pup lying lifeless inside the box, blood stained.

Today is by far the the gloomiest day of the year.

My streak of bad luck has been continuous. But then I am grateful that only my material possessions have been stolen, and that I was not assaulted or hurt. I just hope this year will bring some more great things for me. Last year was the most hurtful year of all, and I continue to pray that this year will be sooo much better.

My lessons: Never leave your valuables unattended. Always act as though you can be a victim of theft or violence. Be on the look out. If possible, always be with someone. I predict that this week, Kuya Jerry will again be servicing yours truly (which I do not mind at all).

*sigh*

My First WiFi Blog

Greetings from Mocha Blends BF! This is my very first WiFi blog!! Tis a Saturday afternoon, and instead of going to Makati, I just decided to do my weekend review in a nearby coffee shop. It's Macmac's first trip outside our house. And I think he's looking pretty dashing. Haha!

Connecting to the net was not exactly an easy feat!!! I've been here in Mocha Blends for a little over forty minutes! My Cafe Latte is half-full (as oppossed to half-empty of course). And I've been tinkering with the DCHP and PPoE settings and what have you. I've been trying to connect using PPoE. And after several frustrating tries, I was able to conclude that PPoE does not work for WiFi connections. Haha! I just had to learn it the hard way. DCHP was the way to go. Deng! But I'm pretty glad that the Mac O/S's help menus have indeed been helpful. Conclusion : Schmenten again proves that she is truly not a technical person!!

News from Puppy-ville... our black 2-day old labrador puppy passed away this morning. I reported earlier today that he had diluted blood coming out of his nose when we fed him at 3pm. His body finally gave up at around 9AM. We are all very sad but were not exactly shocked because the vet had set our expectations about his slim chances of survival. *Sigh* Kitkat can't seem to have kids who aren't yellow!!!

Ok! Me needs to complete my real business stuff!! I plan to hear the 7PM anticipated mass and visit Ate Abi before that.

Lady in the Murky Water

This week's featured film is M.Night Shyamalan's "Lady in the Water". After seeing the movie though... the water seems kinda murky! The first few minutes tries to sell the movie's premise. Water folk, land folk, etc. It was not exactly a familiar story to me. But it seemed too fable-ish. Very much like hierogliphics. Or drawings of men during the stone ages. Paul Giamatti was genuis (he always is). I think the 29% rating in Rotten Tomatoes accounts for Giamatti's performance. The last thirty minutes kinda picked up (when they were assigning different characters). But most of the characters seemed too detached from the movie, and not exactly relatable. Keysi and I were both thinking to ourselves, "Sana RV na lang pinanuod namen!"

On the bright side, with us in the theater were the following celebs: John Lloyd Cruz. Richard/Raymond Gutierrez, Ryan Agoncillo, and Judy Ann Santos. I was surpised to see how pretty Juday was! And how very much in love she and Ryan is. It's pretty amazing.

News from Puppy-ville... Melissa religiously fed the pups today. The black pup, I noticed, had diluted blood coming out of his nose. I better start researching about that. We're all hoping they get through this first critical week ok.

My ... my... Tis the weekend once again. My to-dos...

Saturday:
Visit the Dentist
Visit the Derma
Go to K
Have dinner with Ler

Sunday:
Lunch for Lolo Larding
Wedding Update brainstorming with Ate Mylene

Sounds like a full weekend!!

Deng!

Random Thoughts This Thursday

On my way to the office today, I put on the CD Suzie gave me yesterday. I was surprised to hear a couple of super interesting tracks. They sounded from a Broadway musical. And I recall Suzie telling me she saw Avenue Q when she went to New York a few months ago. True enough, the songs were from Avenue Q! There's this super nice song which I liked (I heard it once today, but plan on listening to it tomorrow (or putting it on my iPod.... hmmm)). Anyway, here it is...

There's a Fine, Fine Line Lyrics

Kate Monster:
There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...
Oh...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

Mental note to self: See Avenue Q when I go to NY (whenever that will be).

The Tale of Three Puppies

Finally! After a week of arduous waiting, Kitkat, our black Labrador, has finally given birth! The vet had to intervene, and she had to undergo a C-Section to deliver the pups! She had the operation this afternoon. I was soooo excited to go home! I was even thinking of ditching my oh-so-important class to go straight home! 'Course I didn't. Hehehe. Anyways, Tonton brought the pups home. They were in this small box. So tiny and so precious!

We fed them immediately with puppy mlik (yes there is such!). They were just sooo cute when we were feeding them! All of them are male pups by the way.

Tonton and I thought of names.... Conan, Kelso, and Kuzko. We all love those guys.

The Vet reports though, that the black pup has a weak lung and has a slim chance of surving. We've been taking turns stroking them and paying close attention to them in the past hour or so. It was so hard the last time Kitkat gave birth when we lost 5 puppies. I really pray all three survive. The first week is the most critical week, the vet said. So we're really hoping they all will grow into strong adult labs someday.

We will name these precious little buggers at the end of their first week. Just so we won't jinx anything.

They've been crying out a few times, which the vet said is pretty ok and normal.

Mama was amazed at how excited we all are! It's like we have new babies (we all love kids) to take care of and love. Well... we do in fact.

Monday Monday

Tis 10:15pm. Monday evening. Everyone here at home is walking on eggshells because Kitkat is overdue! Please please give birth to those ever so cute pups! Or else it's the C-section for you!

It has been quite a hectic day today. Meeting in the morning, emails all day. Although coordinating the testing team isn't all that technical, it involves a lot of email exchanges. Deng. I wish I can do so much more tomorrow.

For tomorrow, I have 2 TSIs, one MTS meeting, and a couple more items on my to-do list. Including setting up a meeting for the testing team. Argh. And at the end of the day, a visit to K for a review session.

I could've studied for an hour tonight, but I opted to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Teehee. Talk about prioritizing.

I had forgetten to mention a few days ago how much I loved Spanglish. Maybe I had the littlest expectations. But I really, really liked it. Heartwarming. About mothers and daughters. I like Adam Sandler. I've always liked him. Hehe!

Fine fine fine... back to the study grind!!

Sunday Evening

Here's a funny text message I received a few days ago.

A black baby is given a pair of wings by a fairy
the baby asked, 'does this mean I'm an angel?'
Fairy laughs
'of cours not, negrang to! Ambisyosa! Paniki ka!"

Hehehehe! Maybe I'm extremely easy to humor. :-D

Today has been a relatively easy-going day. I watched Starsky and Hutch and Dodgeball. And Runaway Jury. Yssa, Tito Mar, and Tita Myr came over to watch KitKat. And she has not given birth yet!!!! But she is most definitely pregnant, the Vet reports. The DVM gave Kitkat till Tuesday to conceive.

I've been going online to take a few practice tests. Jeez... talk about being dedicated. I think pursuing my goals for next year isn't as easy as I had hoped... which explains why a lot of people just throw in the work towel and dedicate themselves solely to reviewing. Hmm... I wonder how I will do. And when I'll be ready.

For tomorrow, I got myself a lot of things to do...

SIT meeting at 9 AM
Merienda/Lunch with MTS Buddy, Rina (might have to resched because this week's crazy!)
Training Plan revision
Communications Committee
Clean out mailbox (I'm waaay behind some of my mail!)
Attend this talk in the evening at Makati Shang
Pay my Citibank Bill

Oh yeah. talk about a full day! I think I need a new mantra...

Day with Alexi

I spent a day today with the Mannings! We had lunch at the Powerplant Mall! We dined in Pazzo. She is the cutest!! Maputing maputi just like Mommy Maila and Daddy Tom.

For more of Baby Alexi's pictures...

http://www.pbase.com/tenten_geocaniga2/alexi_manning_in_powerplant

Maila and I got to talking about work today. She was sharing that she's pretty happy with her work in Kamiseta. She's learning so much about establishing a store in a different country (Kamiseta in Indonesia). She would never learn these things if she had stayed on. I'm pretty glad Maila is happy. And with a family no less!! I continue to be amazed at how one event can change absolutely everything. Like being parents. Tom was pushing the stroller, and Maila was making sure baby Alexi was comfortable inside. It was such an "awwww" moment.

I had planned to visit K today, but the center closed an hour earlier. So I had to set sail just as I had docked. Deng! So it was off to Glorietta for some alone-time with Tenten the Shopper. Then I spent less than an hour hanging out at Ate Abi's clinic. And to wrap up, I heard the 7 PM anticipated mass.

Tis a Saturday and MacMac is keeping me company. Hehehe!

The Universe Conspires

Funny how sometimes we think we know exactly what we want. And then something happens and poof. Everything changes. Maybe it's about giving other things and people a chance. Or perhaps it's the universe conspiring, seeing how much you really want something.

The next four years I think will be bringing a lot of changes in my life. I think I'm pretty much decided about what I want to do next year. But well... apparently, it's not going to be easy. So many reviews, so many things to do.

I love coordinating weddings. I love helping build the capability in my project. I love teaching. But I would also love to start investing in myself and securing my future. Sometimes I wonder though, where starting a family will fit in. I know that's definitely in my future. Uno priority. I think I'm destined to have kids I will love and cherish. But somehow, the" husband" is always left out of the equation. Hehe. I guess that's for fate and circumstance to decide.

I think I shared with someone just this week how I think it's pretty amazing how two people find each other. I mean, someone liking someone is one thing. But having someone feel exactly the same way is just awesome. Hello... thinking back to my string (or rather ball of yarn!) of crushies... gosh. The probability of someone feeling the same way about you. Wow. But most of the time that ain't enough. The circumstance needs to be just right, too. I mean, you can be going gaga over someome (and he feels the same way), but hell. He's married. The universe conspires. Simply put.

Oh well. Maybe it's the Cabernet and short cafe mocha talking.

A few quotes I found...

“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Paulo Coelho

Captain Jack is Back

Obviously, my featured movie for the week is Pirates of the Carribean, Dead Man's Chest. Keysi and I saw the 10PM show today (after a super filling P800 a pop dinner at Myron's!). Johnny Depp, as always, was splendid as Captain Jack Sparrow! Love love the drunken pirate! Special effects was great. I felt icky each time the giantic tentacled monster appeared on screen. Ewww... No grilled pusit for me muna! Storywise... I dunno if it's because of the Cabernet we had with our dinner, but there were times when I was just lost in narration. The weird witch carribean lady wasn't as audible and comprehendible as I would have hoped at times. I liked the twist at the very end! Nice! Super bitin!! Can't wait for the third movie!

I was pleasantly surprised though with Will Turner, portrayed by Orlando Bloom. Suzie has had the huge-est crush on him since God knows when. I'm no Orlando Bloom fan, believe me. Especially when he played Paris in "Troy." Talk about the King of Sissy-land! Haha! But in Pirates, he was just... haha! My type! Strong and commanding! Champion! Tis without a doubt my fave Orlando Bloom movie.

On a Rainy Wednesday

Last weekend was pretty crazy and Macmac has been very busy helping Tonton out with his college homework. Syempre naman... School takes priority over my blogging.

Anyways. Last Friday and Saturday... Wow! Flurry of activities. I think this coming weekend might be pretty similar. I wanted to post these photos last week.

Last Friday, I was just sooo thrilled to receive this bouquet of flowers from my MTS family! They were so thoughtful! The bouquet was just lovely! There was a purple cabbage rose right in the middle. I still have the bouquet here in our altar at home. It's been quite a while since I received flowers. :) It feels pretty nice!

Here's my desk in MTS home base. Darn... looks pretty tidy! Haha! Of course, I did a lot of stashing last Friday. My cubicle is normally in a bearably chaotic state. Right now, since I've been hanging out in UBP, all my folders are merrily cluttering my once-tidy desk.

Last Saturday was Nica's 7th birthday party!! Jollibee goodies all around! Chicken joy, regular yum with cheese, spaghetti, sundae, and a large coke!!! I swear! Jollibee heaven! The mascot was hilarious! We enjoyed every bit of his antics! I wonder if we can specifically hire him for a Jollibee party in the south.

Today was a pretty hectic day. The weather was pretty much in agreement with my cramps. My mom asked earlier if I wanted to go to the doctor tomorrow. Oh no... the tasks I will have to leave behind to find out if I'm still physically healthy. Haha! Symptoms of a workaholic?? I conducted JSE trainings today! Which I love doing. I like teaching. :) We had a fun time during one activity. I hope they all found the discussions stimulating and enjoyable. Then in the evening (after our CSTE review session... ugh! More tests I need to review for!!), Karina and I met for our weekly estrogen-filled get-together. We had dinner at Zaifu in Rockwell. I was famished! Prior to dinner, I had a hotcakes and sausage breakfast from McDo at 9AM, 2 200mg Advil pills for lunch, and a glass of iced tea in the afternoon! Waaaaaaah! It was raining pretty hard, so as expected, Pops called me asking me to stay put because of the flooded areas close to where we live. I could not wait until 1AM to go home! I took the chance anyway and viola!! Baha-less streets! Thank you Lord!

Tomorrow will be another hectic day, I assume! 2 TSI interviews and a couple of Facilitated Review Sessions!!! I still need to document the first two TSIs I had this week... Pile 'em up!

On the list tomorrow... break the news to two peeps about their on-shore assignment cancellation. To be the bearer of bad news... Demn! This'll be a hard one.

Tis 1 AM and I feel as though I still have a lot of energy to write! Hahaha! Must be the side effects of being Workstation-sans on Monday and Tuesday.

I just rolled in my new project and well, I've experienced first hand what a lot of new roll-ins go through during their first few days... being workstation-less, phone-less. Darn! In an IT company, you need both to do what you have to do and to keep you sane. I've been marveling at the magnificent view of the Pasig River (complete with barges and floating greens) and a promising construction site. My new cube has got me thinkng about isolation. I'm a very gotta-chat-with-my-seatmate kind of girl, and well. My seatmate for the time being is a post. Hehe! There wasn't exactly a welcoming committee either. It seems everyone's engrossed in their own little worlds and circles. I miss the small family feel of MTS home base. Pooo.... Where everybody knows your name (to the tune of the theme of Cheers)... well... most of the time.

Garsh. Not being connected to my email has been a pain! I've been squatting and using other people's workstations. Mejo nakakahiya! Pero well... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I think there is a gazillion things I have to do tomorrow and Thursday. When I return to Cybergate on Friday though, I will be workstation-less no more. Mr. Technician fixed our accounts and we are good to go. Alas!! It took only two full days! Har har har!

Tomorrow I return to MTS home base. Target time of arrival in UBP... before 7 AM! Breakfast at McDonald's?? Not very Audrey Hepburn-ish, but sounds rather tempting...

Oooh... forgot to mention that the organizers of the Dow party went out for lunch on Monday (my first Cybergate day). It was fun! Pesem and Giff were a hoot.

Surfing the crimson wave has given me quite a lot of discomfort! I wish it was over soon!

I saw Roch's blog entry and I think I would like create an entry similar to it.... Hmmm....

Another FIrst Day

Today will officially be my first day in Cybergate with a new project. It's 6:48 AM and I know I should be hauling ass to the shower to get to the office promptly at 8. But I lost my deployment notice so I had to make another print out.

I wonder what today has in store... like...

Will I get my workstation right away? I feel pretty naked without a computer. Hehe.
Are the people nice?? I got along with the MTS peeps just fine. Well, they were just about two or three when I first arrived in MTS.
WIll my manager be an ok manager? Gotta set that expectations meeting, first and foremost.

I've missed Mac Mac! Haha! Typing on the keypads just made me realize that I did not spend a good amount of time with him this weekend. Reviews, anticipated mass... and well... the big crimson wave.

Ok! 6:52! Time to hit the showers!

Wish me luck!

Lovewrecked & Jonathan Bennet Smitten

This week's movie feature was a comedy starring Amanda Bynes. Here's a synopsis from the Rotten tomatoes site : Lovewrecked tells the story of Jenny (Amanda Bynes), an eighteen year-old girl who is ecstatic when she finds that her favorite rock star, Jason (Chris Carmack), is a guest at the tropical resort where she is working for the summer. When Jason falls off a cruise ship, Jenny dives in to save him, and the two raft their way onto a nearby "desert island" -- actually just a stone's throw from a luxury resort. However, Jenny wants to spend some time alone with Jason, so she lets him continue to believe that they are desperate castaways-- at least for now. Things get even more complicated when Jenny’s rival Alexis (Jamie-Lynn DiScala) pretends to be shipwrecked too, and they both compete for Jason’s affections. When Jenny's plan blows up in her face, her lifelong friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett) is there to pick up the pieces.… --

The star is Amanda Bynes of course. Cast was good. Amanda is well-known for her comedic talent. She may be in the Lindsay Lohan / Hilary Duff category some two or three years ago. Chris Carmack, Luke from the O.C. and former AF model, was good as the egotistical rockstar. Best of all.... Jonathan Bennet, who we all fell in love with before in "Mean Girls", is the guy best friend. Karina, who I saw the movie with, noticed that everytime best friend Ryan came onto the screen, I would say, "Shet ang gwapo nya." Hehehe! Very keen observation. This guy should get make more movies!!

Ok. Back to "Lovewrecked". Story was pretty predictable. Everyone knows she'll end up with her guy best friend (which is why "My Best Friend's Wedding" is such a classic because it made a point about not letting the moment just pass you by). The script could have been done better. Kathy Griffin's role could have been cut out of the movie entirely! I wish her character was given more depth and exposure. She's a funny lady. Cast was good. Waaaay better than their dialogue. Umph! I wish they had a nicer ending.

Random thoughts for the day...

Twas my last day in the 38th floor at UBP. I was kinda sad because I realized a few days ago how good it is in the home base. My project mates were sooooo sweet! They surprised me with a bouquet of flowers and a really funny caricature!!! I've known these guys for about four months now, and I was just really touched that they went into all the trouble to surprise me like that. Awww.... I will miss the MTS bunch. Waaaaaaah!!!

I wonder what the next few months have in store for moi. Monday will probably give me a better idea.

Note to self : Make interim goals. Spend at least 8 hours a week at K. To get my money's worth! Haha! And to better discipline myself at reviewing.

Now for the weekend....

My To dos...

(1) Go to Nica's birthday party (Have her gift wrapped first!)
(2) Spend some time at K (And organize my stuff!)
(3) Have heels of my office shoes repaired
(4) Hear anticipated mass with Karina
(5) Hang out at Figgy's house

Mwahahhaha! Let's see tomorrow how far I go...

Tired and Stuffed

Because I slept at 3 AM last night, my body has yet to fully recover from the lack of bed-time. I had to drag my sorry huge ass out of bed this morning to get to the office just in time for my 9 AM Interview. Oooooh... Mental note to self: So many to dos I need to finish before i bid UBP adieu (which still doesn't seem like a reality because of the non-existence of my deployment notice). I hafta:

(1) Complete the TSI forms
(2) Hand over all my tasks to whomever
(3) Send out Communications Committee emails
(4) Clear my stuff!

Although I have a pretty good feeliing (me instincts are pretty right on target most of the time!) that I will be going to Cybergate the week after next. I'm feeling kinda sad about it. Life has been good in UBP. :-D It's been like a vacation so far... A vacation after some more recent hell-ish work-years. Hehehe!

I met up with Keysi at Nielsen's for dinner (Huge, monumental thanks to Keyce for the free dinner buffet!!!), and it was just a stuff-fest from 730 pm to 9 pm! Haha! We both enjoyed the salmon (smoked and sushi), and the desserts with our beverage of choice (coffee! what else?!). It just felt nice to chat about everything! I told Keyce about my crazy week, she told me about her Mano-A-Mano weekend, and we just kept laughing when she was doing her "Ehhhhhhxxtra!" Kapampangan impersonations. Champion.

Tomorrow, our project will have our very first team building at Brazil! Brazil! I'm pretty psyched! All 18 of us! I wish we could have done the Team Building sooner. I hope to have pictures to post soon!

Random Thoughts for the day...

(1) Set interim goals. Yes. Tis important to set long term goals. But getting there (the journey) is a goal in itself! So better set interim goals for 'em long term ones. Just so we have milestones and checks along the way.

(2) Macky told us yesterday that Bryan Singer (X-Men and Superman Returns director extraordinaire) is openly gay!! How cool is that?!

(3) Macky also revealed that in the season finale of Will and Grace, Jack ends up with "Well, well, well"-Beverly Lesley!!! The thought of them together just makes me smile! Haha!

(4) My average daily internet time outside the office is about 1.5 hours!! Corz me gottsa spend QT with MacMac.

(5) Coldplay concert at the back of my mind... I joined that MTV Asia contest. I wonder who won.

Inspired

i just came home from dinner with Macky and Karina. What's left of Jologzbitchin'! Macky gave us a detailed account of his US vacay. He's still as fabulous as ever. Karina and I enjoyed his buying cigs at the airport story. The girl behind the counter asking for his ID because he has a "baby face." Complete with the African-American accent! Haha!

I also had my first day at K today. Hence the title inspired. My DT score was not so bad! Decent, but not great. Still need to work on a couple of things (a lot of the math stuff). I need to continue to focus on the goals I've set. And I'm pretty excited and inspired to continue working to achieve it.

Demn. I wonder how the Optus thing will come along in the next few days. Honestly, right now, I would very much like things to stay the way they are. That trip will surely put my October vacation plans into oblivion. Most certainly I'll push my long term plans into further dates. Bum bum bum. *sigh* Let's see where the wind blows.

A Very Raw Lindsay Lohan

I've been keeping our queen sized bed company these past few hours and while channel surfing, I came upon The Parent Trap on Star Movies! You know how there are some movies that you could see over and over again, practically mem'rized all the lines and cues?? The Parent Trap is kind of that movie for me. And I'm just amazed at how young Liindsay Lohan was!! She was brilliant! That girl has a lot of talent. Not all eleven-year-old actresses can pull off a plausible British accent! I liked her in Freaky Friday, too.

Anyway, what I also like about this movie is how great parents Dennis Quaid and Miranda Richardson's characters were. They were both so close to their children. I guess every parent will have their own parental styles. It's pretty hard to strike a balance between disciplining your kids and being their friends. You want them to turn out to be decent people with good lives, but you don't want to push them so far away. When they're grown-ups, they will eventually understand why you had to do what you did. We all love our mums and dads. But liking them is most definitely a different story. Hehe. It's pretty easy to take them for granted and be the bitches and SOBs that we can be. Bottom line is, when I do become a parent someday, I want my little girl (her name will be Sophie) to love and Like me at the same time. I don't think discipline is my stronger suit. So mystery guy (soon-to-be-husband), that'll be your turf. Hehe.

I think I've said this before, but I will say it again. As career driven and competitve I would like to think myself to be, I think my purpose in this world is to be a mother. I've had this thought for more than a decade now, and I still feel strongly about it. Someday, when I'm ready,

Hehehe. Demn what these movies can do to my random thoughts!

Up up and away (part deux)

Here's a movie review I found...

"Then we have the bumbling, stumbling, non-entity of Clark Kent. I didn't like the portrayal in the 70s, and I certainly don't like it now, especially after watching the dynamic between Dean Cain's Clark Kent and Terri Hatcher's Lois Lane. How can you take any romance between Superman and Clark Kent seriously when there's no relationship between Clark and Lois? Based on this version of Clark, the asinine speech that Bill from Kill Bill was correct, Clark Kent is nothing more than a shell. But in reality, to paraphrase Batman, Clark Kent is who Superman "is," and Superman is what he "does." But the movie Kent is almost "literally" a non-entity. "

Movie reviewer Michelle Alexandria nailed it.

On the other side of the comic-adaptations (moving on to Marvel land), the new teaser trailer for Spiderman 3 is out!

http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/spider-man_3/large.html

I am sooooo excited about this movie!! Although in the trailer, it seems Spidey has a lot on his plate. The Sandman, Venom, the Hobogoblin... Jeepers, Peter Parker! I wish you luck! But rest assured that I will watch this third installment on the very first screening day!

Up up and away

Yes, by the four words of this blog's title, you can tell that I just came from the movies. Yes, I did see Superman Returns today. My not-so-random thoughts about it? It was good. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rating of 75% I think, which is pretty impressive, given the very high RT standards.

*Major spoilers coming!*

The overall theme to me was fatherhood. I like what Jor-El says to his son and what Superman said to his own son. Nice touch. It was a nice new spin to the theme. I'm trying to find exactly what he said... to no avail. Maybe in a couple of days though.

Brandon Routh is hot hot hot hot as the Man of Steel! Love everything about him! I think he has a really handsome face, great voice and nice bod! Hehe! I don't think Nicolas Cage nor Ashton Kutcher could have done a better job as Superman. I would like to see more of Brandon. He's a tall one!

I also liked the nice surprising way how the kid's super powers are revealed. At first you'd think he was definitely Richard's son when Lex Luthor showed him some Kryptonite. And then came the part where the Grand Piano was smashed into the villian by none other than the asthmatic kid! I think all of us watching gasped! We thought we had it all figured out!

I liked the opening scenes! It was like a Rialto ride!

Kevin Spacey was good as Lex Luthor. Power-hungry, unforgiving, yet with a touch of humor.

It was a good remake. It was touching that Bryan Singer dedicated the film to Christopher and Dana Reeves.

I would have wanted to see more Clark Kent in the movie. It's the fumbling Clark that makes Superman more human and relatable. I actually find myself liking Clark so much more than Superman. Some critics do say that the Superman in this movie is emotionally tormented. He feels he's all alone, when in fact, he truly isn't.

I miss Margot Kidder's depiction of Lois Lane. Ambitious but funny. Head over heels in love with Superman, but oblivious about Clark. Their chemistry in the first Superman movies is undeniably better than Brandon and Kate Bosworth. I did not like her as Lois Lane very much. She was a cold Lois Lane. Although that could have been the intention, given Superman was MIA for 5 years with no goodbyes. Maybe they can show a more human, warmer Lois Lane in the next pictures.

As with the first X-Men and Spiderman movies, the director was probably trying to get his superhero groove. I'm sure the next pictures will be better than this first one (as with the other two superhero flicks).

In a nutshell...I like Batman Begins, Spiderman 2, and Superman 2 better than Superman Returns. But I'm hopeful that what's too come might push those movies to the backseat.
