Magic 6 A.I. Finalists and Kitchen

I just saw this week's American Idol performance night. The theme was the greatest love songs of all time, with Andrea Bocelli and David Foster as guests. I had a thought while watching Mr. Foster give suggestions... He can easily be a good judge in American Idol! He knows his music and he's quite straightforward.

Anyway... my idol favorites for tonight

Do you really have to ask my numero uno?? Chris Daughtry, you're the guy! I liked his "Have you ever really loved a woman". Cool guitar accompaniment! Superb superb superb! David Foster made a pretty good point about singing from your diaphragm.

Numero dos in my list is Elliot Yamin. He's actually a close second. First of all, I love the song he sang ( "A Song for you" ). I recall listening to that song when I was younger. Karen Carpenter had a version. There's something eerie and sad about the song. And well, Elliot put his own spin to it! Me likey!!

I can't decide on my fourth. Taylor was just ok. James Ingram did a killer version of the song (and so does my brother if and when his mood calls for it. Hehe!). Paris was just ok. I wasn't impressed. Katharine could've chosen a better song. And Kellie...oh Kellie...

More highlights from today...

I had dinner with the Favises and the De la Ramas ... Hehehe! We ate at Kitchen in Robinson's Galleria. Before dinner, Suzie and I went aroud the mall and I found this cool pair of pink camouflage shorts.

Dinner was fun! We talked about our old projet, old teammates, and old (need-to-be-forgotten) laptops. Hehe! Jaime and Abby, my former clients! :-D Haha! We exchanged a few wedding anecdotes here and there.

Paolo and Suzie also chimed in the kwentuhan. We reminisced about Suzie liking Jason Kidd three years ago (She just had her very expensive Tony and Guy highlights when she told me that!) But she completely denies it! Of course, I couldn't help but bring up her admiration Tommy Lee Jones. Great and gifted actor, he most certainly is! Hot and sexy, he is most certinly isn't! Hehe!

The peeps from Kitchen seemed to implicitly ask us to leave. They turned off the airconditioning and it got pretty warm. So I tried cooling myself with Kitchen's signature water with mint leaves (or pandan ba yun)?

All in all, I had a fun evening! :D Eto at blogging again. It's pretty nice to be preoccupied with other things for the meantime. I think the thoughts that consume you or distract you becomes torture when they are the sole occupants of your head. So lesson for today, distract yourself from major distractions!

On Cream Cheese, Distractions, and Being "S"

Throughout the course of today, I've been thinking on occasion what to blog about. Also present in my thoughts is how slow Rommel's HP laptop has become. I'm glad the excel file I created in his laptop turned out to be Virus free. Which means... the files themselves are ok. But there seems to be this spyware thing that's sneakily duplicating some of the files. Mental note to self... remind Suzie about bringing the Adaware thing tomorrow when I see her.
Random thoughts : Cream cheese on pesto is just yummy. Haha. Sorry about the banality of the thought, but such a gastronomical fact needs to be mentioned. Kudos to Ate Henny for having the pesto with chicken nuggets down to the t. Thanks to Maila and Tom Manning for the suggestion!

More Random thoughts... To be inspired or to be distracted? I did have an entry yesterday about distraction and how it can be "mental torture". How does one move from distraction to inspired? I remember my sharing this tidbit with a friend before... "I like being single! Believing in 'I need no one else to complete me'! Of course everything changes when some prospect enters your reverie and makes you think otherwise." Not liking / crushing/ thinking of anyone in particular is every single girl's key to a peaceful existence. Haha! I think a happy single person will want a change in status when he or she finds someone who might be worth liking. I could be wrong though.

What is my current outlook about being single? I'd say 'Happy' still... with a couple of wistful thoughts here and there.

Not so Random Thought...Trip to the land down under has been moved to 2-4 weeks. Very AC for such a thing to happen. I'm glad I've been setting my mind that the trip supposedly this weekend will be moved. And right was I! I better keep me-self preoccupied with other things.

Plan more out of town trips! Complete backlog wedding stuff... Tsk tsk...

Remembering BKK2005... Will I see your tempting red lights once again? This year? Haha!

"Eyes on the prize, Violet"

1. distraction - mental turmoil; "he drives me to distraction"
confusedness, disarray, mental confusion, confusion - a mental state characterized by a lack of clear and orderly thought and behavior; "a confusion of impressions"

2. distraction - an obstacle to attention

3. distraction - an entertainment that provokes pleased interest and distracts you from worries and vexations
beguilement

4. distraction - the act of distracting; drawing someone's attention away from something; "conjurers are experts at misdirection"
misdirection

********

Can you now guess my favorite word for the day? Hehe. Not to say that I have been unable to get things done. Mind you! I completed the MTS training plan, the TSI interview results of a certain Mr. Ramirez, and... a bunch of other tasks.

I found out today that I will in fact be seeing the famous wide-eyed Tarsiers of Bohol this weekend! Whoopeee! I had a feeling about how this weekend will turn out. My instincts have more often than not, served me with pretty accurate predictions. And what exactly are my instincts telling me now about "distrations"? Haha.

"Mental Turmoil".... sounds just about right. Schmenten has taken trip down the Mental Turmoil lane quite a few times. May these frequent trips translate into reminders I should take to heart.

"Eyes on the prize, Violet." said the creepy Mom in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. May this be my mantra. The prize being my long term goal for next year. Maan did tell me to steer clear of romantic distractions for the meantime. Ok schments!! YES to reviews and NO THANKS to "mental turmoil"s!

I don't know if it's a girl thing... but sometimes my imagination just runs wild with these what-ifs and conjured scenarios. Count not your chickens before they are even eggs, my friend.

I'm playing devil's advocate here... Hmm... Life is sooo much simpler without distractions. But well. In most cases, it's a personal choice. Should you allow yourself to be distracted or not? Haha. Easier said than done.

I'm glad the episode of Project Runway today was yet another replay! Whoopteeedooo! I hope next week's a new episode! I've found fans of the show in Keysi and Bibay! Right now, I am rooting for Kara Saun and Jay... and maybe that other cute designer in his skivvies... Haha!

ALRYTY! Time's up! Hitting the sack in a while...

Quite the blogger

Oh my! I've been quite the dutiful blogger these past few days... not on this blog though! But on the Tanquilut Family blog... http://tanquilutfamily.blogspot.com. I've been spreading the word about the blog site. Maybe I need to send Friendster messages to our dearest relatives abroad. Most of the peeps don't read the Bulletin Board. Oh what the hey...

Last weekend was a pretty fun weekend! Saturday : we went to Mitchie's celebratory Dinner, then yesterday, the Torreses had a beeday bash! Fonzie, Tita Myr, and Kuya Ariel all celebrated their beedays. We loved loved loved the java rice with bits of chorizo, the inihaw na liempo, and well... just about everything on the menu! Mental note to self... need to update the family blog with that special event. Oh, and I still owe the folks the Holy Week family activities.

Ooops gotta go! We leave for the office... will me making more entries latah!

Aqualung in my thoughts today...

Aqualung invasion folks! I've been toying with iTunes and I saw my brother had an Aqualung playlist. And my oh my... It's like Coldplay part deux.

Here's one song I discovered today that I like:

Strange and Beautiful

I've been watching your world from afar
I've been trying to be where you are
And I've been secretly falling apart
Unseen To me, you're strange and you're beautiful
You'd be so perfect with me
But you just can't see
You turn every head but you don't see me
I'll put a spell on you
You fall asleep
And I put a spell on you
And when I wake you
I'll be the first thing you see
And you'll realise that you love me
Yeah Ye-ah
Sometimes the last thing you want comes in first
Sometimes the first thing you want never comes
But I know that waiting is all you can do
Sometimes ...

Sounds rather stalker-ish... Hehehe! But there's a certain sadness to his voice that's somehow sweet...

But my favorite song for the moment...

Brighter than sunshine
I never understood before
I never knew what love was for
My heart was broke, my head was sore
What a feeling
Tied up in ancient history
I didnt believe in destiny
I look up you're standing next to me
What a feeling
What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
Brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, i don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine
And it's brighter than sunshine
I never saw it happening
I'd given up and given in
I just couldn't take the hurt again
What a feeling
I didn't have the strength to fight
Suddenly you seemed so right
Me and you
What a feeling
What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
It's brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, I don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine
It's brighter than the sun
It's brighter than the sun
It's brighter than the sun, sun, shine.
Love will remain a mystery
But give me your hand and you will see
Your heart is keeping time with me
What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine
It's brighter than sunshine
Let the rain fall, I don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine

This is such a sweet sweet song! I wonder what it would be like to bask in the love that's brighter than sunshine. After all the cynicisms, all the painful experiences... *sigh*. Miss Sentimental Tenten needs to shut her piehole.

Lemme recall what I did today...

Had lunch with ERP5! Sort of a reunion at Tang City! The lady who owns the place kind of resembles my mom. I was unsuccessful in trying to charm her for a free pot of Jasmine tee. But no worries. We got 8 P50 Gift Certs! We shall return to Tang City!

An eyeful today

Right now, I'm still reeling from this clip I just saw a few minutes ago from Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He just had James Lipton (with a red Budweiser cap tilted the hiphop way) read a few lines from Kevin Federline's new rap song. It was hilarious!

A few more minutes before that, American Idol (the late replay on Star World), just wrapped up with this week's performances. The idols took on the standards, with Rod Stewart as their coach. It was such a great episode! My personal favorites...
  • Katharine McPhee with Someone to Watch Over Me.... This song and I have a history together. And he who binds us is Sting! Haha! He sang a version of this song (it was great of course). I suddenly remembered how much I love this song, and how the lyrics seem to speak out to those who wish for that "someone" to put on some speed, and follow their lead. Back to Katharine... She was a pro. So effortless.
  • Taylor Hicks with You Send me... He sent me, and he thrilled all the viewers with that awesome ending. He seemed to have matured and become a tad more sophisticated. Of course, the crazy dancing just had to be part of the song, which actually was the cherry on top of a very sweet bowl of Taylor Ice Cream.
  • Chris Daughtry with What a Wonderful World... First of all, his outfit looked a little circa 1930s. Sorta reminded me of Russell Crowe in Cinderella Man. But fashion statements aside, I like this side of Chris. He was more mellow and he was just great! I really think in the end, it'll be between Chris and Katharine...

Now switching to the local scene... today, I also saw D Lucky Ones with Aida and chae. Super duper funneee! Awesome performance from Eugene and Pokwang! I swear! They stole the show. Half of the time, I was secretly wishing the movie was entirely about their two characters. I think they could've done sooo much better with the directing and editing. Somehow it seems to me that they made and finished the movie in a hurry. But I think I'm happy with what I got out of my P120. My favorite scene was when they went into this elaborate production numbers at the Metrowalk bar. I was stomping my feet while laughing!!! Another plus was this guy from Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, who in D'Lucky Ones, played the object of Eugene and Pokwang's affection... the very desirable (yet undoubtedly wholesome) Ralph.

Aida, Marchae, and I are still trying to figure out the dance steps to the movie theme song. Haha! I think we're missing one crucial step.

Overall, I am fairly happy with how my day ended. I had an eyeful of funny scenes and awesome performances (courtesy of American Idol!).

On a more personal note, Irene wrote today, sharing how silly she feels with being all giddy and eager about her new prospect. Funny how she and I, being in different places and all, experience the same things, and sometimes, have the same insights. Wouldn't it be nice to be the object of eagerness and hopeful romantic uncertainty for once? :)

All for now! I think I've done my blogging fairy proud today.

Testing the blogging waters once again

For the nth time, I re-enter the blogging world, brimming with hope that I will sustain the blogger-energies. Like my loyal blogging friends Rochness and TimAndKendra.

It will be a challenge... considering blogger is officially blocked (on the enemy list of our beloved Firewall).

I've officially sunk into MTS routine. It has been more than a month since I first started my second project. It's been good, I'd say. Met new people. Got a new role. Tried my very best to come to the office as early as my waking hour could take me... Hehehe.

I need to start updating this blog with more interesting pictures and anecdotes! Lemme see what I can find...

Here's one fun party we most recently had to celebrate my Tita Molly's 60th beeday:

We had a rockin good time!

Garsh.... I still need to blog about Holy Week and our fun fun Fontana vacay... More to come!
