Almost Korean again...

Just like I promised myself yesterday, I started surfing the Korean wave again. Today, my projectmates and I went to Metrowalk and I bought a copy of "Almost Love." It was only after a little probing in the www.hancinema.net website did I confirm that the guy on the cover of the DVD was none other than Kwon Sang Woo, Korean actor extraordinaire with a body of a Gold's Gym poster boy. Yummy!!

The movie per se was ok. It had its nice, "kilig" moments. There were a couple of hilarious moments where I simply could not believe it was the antics Kwon Sang Woo was pulling. This might be his most adorable role yet.

I am such a sucker for these movies! And I want more! Haha! I'm thinking of getting "My Girl", the Korean series. Hmm... Have...to...settle...Citibank...bill...first...

Random Thoughts for the day...

** Magnolia Ice cream is tops! I am loving their Dulce De Leche ice cream! They were the best fifteen years ago and it seems they're making a come back.

** Chocolate Sale tomorrow! Must...settle...Citibank...bill...first... But what's the harm in taking a quick peek?

** More career options surface today. Let's see what fate brings.

Old Blog...

I found this old blog which I left unpublished... Hehe!

Quick blogger break before I go down and start my journey to Makati, where I'll be meeting keysi.

My favorite scent... Body Shop's Olive Oil Mist. Very relaxing and fragrant. Not overpowering. Wish they had a body spray for that particular scent.

My current apprehensions... I wonder what September will bring. Will I or won't I? Will move along or will I change my current course? All in Dow's hands. Haha.

My latest random thoughts...

Is it better to have a boylet who's good looking but does not have an awesome personality, or a boylet with an awesome personality but who ain't a looker? Physical attributes are what one sees right away. And after that comes knowing what the person is really all about. When you find out the looks don't match his personality, it's somehow disappointing. When it's the other way around though... you're disappointed with the looks, but then you get to know the person better and find out he's pretty great. Sort of redeems the boylet.

My plans for tonight... See D' Lucky Ones with Keysi. My second viewing, but I so do not mind. I heart Eugene. She's a comic genius.

My plans for tomorrow... sleep in the morning, hear anticipated mass, go to Mitchie's celebratory dinner, meet up with the JB posse! Should be fun.

My favorite song for tooday... Brighter than sunshine by Aqualung... I never knew before. I never knew what love was far. My heart was broken my head was sore what a feeling...I look up you're standing next to me, what a feeling. what a feeling in my soul. love burns brighter than sunshine. brighter than sunshine. let the rain fall i don't care. i'm yours and suddenly you're mine... and it's brighter than sunshine...

Good bye "The search is over". Me likey this song. I hope to one day be seeing this song. To know the feeling of a burning love, brigher than sunshine.

You're a complex creature, and you're guilty of complicating things for fun.
You've been known to sit around pondering the meaning of life...
Or at times, pondering the meaning of your doughnut.
To frost or not to frost? To fill or not to fill? These are your eternal questions.

Dublin-esque?

You Belong in Dublin

Friendly and down to earth, you want to enjoy Europe without snobbery or pretensions.
You're the perfect person to go wild on a pub crawl... or enjoy a quiet bike ride through the old part of town.

Project Runway on a Monday

First of all, I am writing this entry with wild laughter in the background. Melissa and Ate Henny are watching "My Girl", this new Korean telenovela, and are cackling up a storm. Mental note to self, pay the Mecca of pirated DVDs a visit (the Mecca close to my house that is, for we know the Mecca of all pirated things is Quiapo!). I miss getting a Korean fix. Last one was "My Name is Kim Sam Soon", and wasn't that such a treat?!

Project Runway on a Monday! This is the only reason why I am insistent and persistent to be home before 8 every Mondays. Pops was able to pick me up from the office before 6:30, and we were home before 7:30. Just in time to see the opening scene of Captain Barbell on channel 7. I say this with a piercing pain in my loyal Kapamilya heart, but the effects are quite impressive on that show (well, for Philippine tv standards). Anyway... I tend to digress.

Tonight, they actually aired the episode before the finale. It was the open forum bit, where Vanessa walked out and where everyone was just ganging up against Wendy. I think it will be American-Idol-Season-4-ish (heartbreakingly disappointing), if Wendy Pepper wins. ARGH! Let's see! I hope they air the final episode next week. I've been such a good girl (E.Q. in check), not surfing the net for the winner. Just a few more days to to...

I hope they air Season 2... alas... I will be a good girl and not look at the official website for the results of that season (coz I think they're over and done with, too).

Random thoughts for the day...

**Anything with cream cheese is just divine! I think I've had this creamy/cheesy thought before. I had peppered beef pastrami with tomatoes, onions, and cream cheese for lunch. On wheat bread! Haha! That's me being pretentious!

**Taylor Hicks likes to say "woooh!" a lot in his songs. I downloaded some of may favorite performances and I've become quite conscious of the "woooh!"s. I still adore Taylor nonetheless. And "Try a Little Tenderness" is such a fun song.

**Chris Daughtry and "A Little Less Conversation". Perfect combo! I wonder why Simon didn't like his performance!

**Tis so much easier to be a the villian than to be the protagonist! I've been a little b_t_y these past few days. I dunno if it's a hormonal thing. Sigh. Or maybe I need to get out some more.

**I love my kids... Ina, Yssa, and Camille. I was just telling Papa about what happened last weekend. They just make me smile!

Toosday tomorrow!

I am Ororo!

You Are Storm

Exotic and powerful, Storm descended from a line of African priestesses.
Emotions can effect your powers, but you are generally serene.

Powers: controlling weather, creating winds that lift you into flight, generating lightning

Weekend Whirlwind

Thank you PLDT DSL. I hate you no more. Hehe!

Anyways, this weekend was pretty ... wild? Hehehe! Wild in the sense that the mole on my bottom of my right foot was happy. Here's the breakdown...

Friday night, the ERP5 pose (more specifically those of us who love Marchae and Side A), went all the way to Bagaberde along Roxas Boulevard. Opening act was Shayne, this amazing Fil-Am singer (I assumed she's Fil-Am because of the very Jaya-ish hair). She belted out Better Days and wow! I would very much like to see her compete (in American Idol or something). Anyway, back to Side A (sorry Chae, for digressing). I liked how they kinda changed their repertoire a bit. They sang "You're Beautiful" and Bo Bice's "The Real Thing". Nice!

Saturday... Fun with the kids! I've blogged all that I could blog about this in our family blogger. See Fun Weekend with the Kids entry. I just love spending time with them... and I find it sooo hard to say no! Haha! They've grown so much.

Sunday... Xmen III with the boys (my brothers and the Marks). This third installment feels different from its first two predecessors. But as always.... me likeeee Logan! Haha!

I like Archangel, too. Love the wings!

Movie per se... it was good, and yet maybe I expected a whole lot more. My brother was just dissing the corny ending, but I easily came to Wolverine's defense. Hey, obviously the guy isn't the most expressive gent in the world, so props to him for saying the three little words and they doing what he had to do. Hehe. Maybe I was looking for the magic connection to the story and the characters. Just like Spiderman 2 (which I think is one of the best super hero movies ever made). The last treat just after the credits was awesome. Nice touch!

Alas... another week ends, and another one begins.

DSL-less no more

FINALLY! After an unknown force of technobites, our DSL is finally back up. Goodbye, crowded Netopia rooms! Hello super warm computer room on the second floor of our house. Hehehe! I will need to call 171 to get our one week of internet-less rebate.

The Soul Patrol Prevails!!

Today's American Idol season finale just had me cheering, singing, dancing, screaming, and for some moments... crying! Hehe! It was now or never for the two idols, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks!

And of course, everyone knows who I just love love love. And thank you America! For making the right choice! Taylor Hicks prevails! He's this year's American Idol. Love him love him love him!

Show highlights for me ('course, other than Ryan's announcement that Taylor won)...

(1) Prince performing : I've been wondering about all the Prince hoopla. Sure he exudes this sexy vibe, but I'm not entirely sure which team he's batting for. Hehe. Anyway, tonight, non-believers find out what Prince is all about. He was just awesome!

(2) Clay Aiken and fan : That was just classic! It's always awesome to see fans and their idols meet. Clay Aiken looked...well... gay as ever. Haha! But it was a fun moment!

(3) Guy's Group Song Number : A lot of people been hoping a guy will prevail as this year's American Idol, and the line up of guys is pretty good! Their song number is waaay better than the girls', and Taylor playing his harmonica!

Overall, it was a great results show/season finale! I was sooo entertained! It was like watching a concert. Worth seeing for the second time.

Bibay and I were just screaming at each other over the phone when they announced Taylor's victory! Haha!

Till next year! I will miss American Idol... How will I fill my Wednesday and Thursday evenings? Hehehe! I love you Star World! For airing the season finale LIVE! I didn't realize how good we had it here until I read in some of the Idol Blogs that in some countries, the show airs a week later! Bummer!

Anyway! Happy day! Oh happy day!

Still DSL-less...

Crap! I am still stuck in Netopia-dom because the friggin DSL dudes do not know what the hell is wrong my our modem. I have a feeling that we are internet-less precisely because our modem is jurassic! I think it's the first model of modems which came out. Anyway... I am sooo hoping that they get it fixed because looking over your shoulder while typing your everyday, mundane thoughts is soooo not cool. Hehehe!

Think happy thoughts... said James M. Barry. Happy thoughts as of late...

(1) Apple's MacBook - available only in the Apple Store site. I am loving this laptop! I finally straightened out the billing address problem with the American Express and Apple folks. Hopefully, I will cease to be laptop-less on June 3 (when Suzie arrives with my new Apple baby). Droool...

(2) American Idol Finals - Please, please let it be Taylor! I would very much like to see an American Idol who I actually like. Didn't like Fantasia. Didn't like Carrie (not so much coz I didn't like her per se, but I just love love love Bo). I like Taylor Hicks! Gyrating, Sesame-Street-looking groucho and all. I hope he wins (and not Katharine McPheeling).

*******

I'm feeling a little down lately. And a little loopy. Mood Swings. There you go. Two words that sum it all up. I don't even know why exactly.

Tomorrow Karina and I will be meeting with Macky to bid him a jolly farewell and to hand over our presents for Maan. I hope she likes it.

Oooooh... My Yahoo friend reports that Zara is on ZALE!! Do I dare leave my credit card at home??

Paint Ball scheduled this weekend with my favorite girls (Ina, Iris, and Yssa), Chad, and the parental units. I hope they have fun. I think 12 year olds will enjoy running around and shooting each other with paint balls right?

Ok... time to update the family blogger...

DSL-less...

Argh... Can you believe I'm at the nearby Netopia, checking my webmail and updating my blogger? I've been trying to get the PLDT DSL peeps to do something about the error in connection we've been getting. I hope that gets fixed soon! Too many things that are internet dependent...

These past few days, I've been finding myself defending The Da Vince Code (book and movie) to most devout Catholics and skeptics. I saw the movie last Thursday (I'm obviously the couldn't resist NOT to watch on the first day sorta girl) and it was ok. Not at par with what I had hoped the movie to be, based on the book. Anyway... I just don't like that that people pass judgment on the book and the film but have not seen it! How can you create a conclusion about something you don't even completely understand? I would rather have an educated faith than a blind faith. I think I can go on for hours explaining what I personally think Dan's Brown message is ("What YOU believe in is most important"), but I've had my fill of being Mr. Brown's lawyer for a day, thank you very much.

I also discovered these past few days how much love-for-an-iPod there is in me. Quite a lot, I'd say. I've been uploading as many songs as I could. It's been fun! I heart my 30GB iPod Video! Haha!

Hopefully, my iPod video will find a companion in my soon to be acquired MacBook. Argh! It's been quite a challenge to purchase it online and make sure it's delivered to Suzie's address in New Jersey. I have to call Amex and have them register my other billing address. I'm crossing my fingers!!

Netopia bliss is up...

Sunday, Busy Sunday

As much as I wanted to get out of bed just after Ate Henny sets the table for lunch, I had to get up earlier. I attended the christening of my 12th or 13th inaanak, Denise Kiara Ang. The Baptismal ceremony was held at the Santuario De San Antonio, and the reception followed in Edsa Shangri-la. The 13-course Chinese Lauriat was downright indulgent.

Best part of the party was the group of babies and kids running around and were simply adorable!

Here's my inaanak, Denise:

Cousin Winona was super game to pose and to dance! Kumekembot pa! She looks just like her mom!

And the bida of show... Angela! She's Denise's bigger sister, and boy does she love to run around and play!

It's pretty cool how close and down-to-earth the Ngs and the Angs are. There was a lot of love in the room.

The rest of my afternoon was spent primping! Haha! I finally have my recoloring of roots and hot oil errand marked acccomplished. Roland the stylist from Ystilo is my official hair stylist.

We had dinner at this Jap resto in Alabang that was surprisingly good. Omasake I think it's called.

Sigh! Work na naman tomorrow... Silver lining... Project Runaway tomorrow rin!

Nyt nyt!

Stormy Mother's Day Weekend

*Argh! This is my second attempt for a blog today! Stoofed me clicked hit something and my original post just disappeared! ARGH!!!*

It's a Saturday morning, and outside, it's looking the gloomiest since the summer months began. I think there's a storm a-brewing. Mother's day weekend is upon us. Mental note to self... get something for my mom. Anyway, the nice cold weather is a pleasant change from the scorching hot weather we've been getting these past few weeks. For today, I welcome the change of not feeling like we're being stir fried on a wok!

Yesterday, Keysi and I saw Poseidon, for the lack of a better movie choice. I was entertained. But they could have worked with a better script. The casualties were pretty predictable. I did, however, enjoy Josh Lucas' blue eyes very much. Hehe! Da Vinci Code will be out next week. I'm praying it's a good movie adaptation. Let's see what Ron Howard's got, and how well a Robert Langdon Tom Hanks could be.

My To Dos for today...

(1) Buy the second half of my christening gift for Denise Ang (my 13th god daughter). I was thinking of visting Zara... Haha! Lame-o excuse ba? Miss ko na si Zara eh!

(2) Start my Grey's Anatomy marathon... Everyone I know who's a fan of the show has been tellng me I will surely like it. Let's see if they're right.

(3) Have a pre-mother's day dinner with my family... We wanted to avoid the Sunday barrage of people. ButI don't know how that's going to go, considering the howling winds.

(4) Visit the parlor... Hot Oil, recoloring roots... Sounds just about right!

Let's see which of the four I get done. :D

Schmenten's had a bad day...

... To be sung in the tune of the immensely popular Daniel Powter song. Argh! I can't wait for tomorrow! I hope it's a better day. *Sigh!* I shall try to find the silver lining in these dark, very gloomy nimbus clouds!

American Idol results : I'm still in denial that Chris Daughtry, my bet to snag the A.I. title this year got the boot. When Ryan Seacrest told him he was going him, he was in shock! I think everyone was in shock! Everybody thought it would be a Chris-Kat show in the finale. Yesterday, I said an Elliot-Chris show would be perfect. I guess America has voted...and America doesn't know a damn thing about deserving idols! I hope it's a Taylor-Elliot face-off. Pretty please! No more McPheeling!

A.I. Silver lining... I have no doubt Chris will make it big someday. He sounds very contemporary. I hope he makes a record whose sales will scoff at this year's idol's record sales (well... assuming McPheeling wins...And I cringe at the thought).

iTunes Fiasco : Last night, because of my failure to get my iPod's synching settings right, I had inadvertently deleted my previously saved songs (which I ripped for for friggin hours last week! My blood, sweat, and tears!). Argh argh argh.

iTunes Fiasco silver lining ... Now I know. And knowing is half the battle. ARGH! I still can't think of a silver lining from that nimbus cloud.

And then there were four...

American Idol night tonight! I had a blast watching the Elvis-themed performance night. I love love love Elvis! The king reigns supreme!

First of all.... can I just take notice of Ryan Seacrest or... Professor Ryan Seacrest! Haha! I love the suit. Very 80s English professor. Haha!

My favorite performances for tonight...

Chris Daughtry's "A Little Less Conversation". I'm a little biased here because I've loved this song for quite sometime and he did an awesome job singing it. What's more, Chris in a crisp, white button down shirt is downright sexy! He looked awesome!

Elliot Yamin's "Trouble". It's been said over and over. But Elliot was right on the mark with this song! I agree with the judges' comments for the most part.

I am hoping Catharine McPhee goes home tomorrow. My friend once told me she has sort of a diva complex brewing (and I think I can see bits and pieces of it!). She messed up her first song, and her second song wasn't all that good either.

I love Taylor... And I wish for him to be part of the top 3. An all-boy Top 3 would be my dream come true this season.

Silent HIll on a Sunday

Because of my brothers' and cousins' constant prodding, we went to see Silent Hill yesterday in ATC. The movie's based on this PS2 game my brothers used to play. Movie review in a nutshell... what a waste of movie moolah. Rotten Tomatoes support me, rating the movie a measly 27%. I like what this one film reviewer wrote, "Striking visuals tell a story where words aren't necessary ... until that turning point, when dull dialogue, a complicated plot and cheesy graphics start to muddle things." -- Mark Collete. My thoughts exactly.

After the movie, we had a pizza and chicken fest at Shakey's. Yummeee! I'm kinda wishing now that I saved the three remaining slices of Garlic and Cheese pizza for moi... But it's all good. I think Kuya Ariel enjoyed the left overs yesterday (we saw him in Ruins and gave him a ride home). We thoroughly enjoyed the company of the Munar boys, Edrick and Pao. Entertainment for the price of pizza. And sometimes a Starbucks treat. Hehe.

I slept early last night. We were supposed to watch "Kicking and Screaming" on DVD. But I fell asleep while waiting for the boys to finish their NBA Live game.

Tooday I will be visiting my Gutierrez girls! I'm pretty excited! I miss those buggers! But I need to be home before 8PM of course! Project Runway is on tonight!

Saturday's alright

My blogging energies have been focused on our family newsletter-ish blogspot! Tanquilut Family Chronicles! It's pretty awesome because Tita Cion called today (Mom's beeday) and she told us that they've seen our Bohol pictures! Chris was joking that Tita Myr looked like Madonna in her "mapang-akit" shots! Haha! Like a virgin, he said. So so so funny! I've been spreading the word about this blogsite. I wonder how to put a counter on the site so I could keep track of the traffic.

Today, I spent the entire afternoon (from noon till 6PM!) with Marchae and Nica. Too bad I forgot to bring my camera to capture our adventures for the day. Shoe shopping at Step Rite (dang! The smallest size for 'em nice white shoes was 6!), lunch at Conti's (The chicken ala kiev just brought me to heaven!), and gallavanting in ATC. I had a blast playing the percussion arcade game! Made me want to be a drummer (Pulling my Watts-dreams from the crypt).

The early evening was marked with a lot of cheesecake making! We made two mango cheesecakes for mama's beeday celeb. And then we experimented with a coffee cookies and cream cheese cake. It's keeping cool in the cooler of the ref as I type. Taste testing scheduled tomorrow.

Mama's party and our first Saturday prayer meeting have been well documented in the Tanquilut Family Chronicles website. Details are all there. I was pretty happy that Tita Lydia and Karina made it!

Rounds of introduction of course, and a lot lot lot lot of funny double-meaning, double-edged back and forth exchanges between my mom and Tita Lyds. Haha! I think they will be meeting very very soon. I didn't see Karina this week prior to today. So we'll make up for lost time next week hopefully.

Ok... so things to do tomorrow... Ask Mikey about his shirt size for the vintage Pinoy shirts he wants... And hear mass of course.

Random thoughts for the day... Prejudices are prevalent regardless of class or social standing. I've been hearing so many prejudicial remarks made about people who have been financially blessed. Some people think that if you're rich you're automatically unhappy and never fulfilled nor satisfied. I think there are a lot of people who are unhappy and unfilfilled, rich and poor alike. Oh well... I dunno where exactly these thoughts are leading to. But anyway, that's why they're called random. Hehe.

The shower beckons. :-D Gnyt!

Thursday Thoughts

Finally! I was able to complete all the entries for our Bohol-Cebu vacay. The Tanquilut Chronicles blogsite has been duly updated! Four pages of PBASE pictures.. Phew! Up next... more family updates. Mental note to self: Ask Ate Svet for pics from Meg's christening. Thank you miracle proxy server! Mwahaha!

I felt a tad guilty when my seatmate asked me how I'm able to visit the restricted sites. I told her how and asked her if she wanted to know the settings. She politely refused. Haha! I feel as though I just offered her drugs and she said no. Haha! Bad schments!

Thursday thoughts...

Paris Bennet was booted from Idol today. That was expected. And I predict Elliot is going next. The top 3 spots are pretty set, I must say : Taylor, Katharine, and Chris. I hope Chris wins though!

I sorta have this cold that wouldn't go away for the past two days. I've been taking meds and vitamins, but sniffing's been my business.

I've been uploading songs to my new iPod. Yipee! John Mayer ... I must say. His Room for Squares album is just so good to listen to. Right now, St. Patrick's Day is on. Another song for those in love or comfortably happy in a new relationship.

I had a few other thoughts but well... I've forgotten. Hehehe!

More blogging tomorrow then...

M:I:III !

I just want to share that last night I saw Mission Impossible III (Yes, Keyce! part III!!! Hahaha!) In Randy Jackson's words... it was the bomb! I was not expecting a lot from the movie. My feelings for Tom Cruise has changed over the years... From warm... to lukewarm... to no feelings at all. I used to like him a whole deal, but well. Post-Katie Holmes, I think he's kinda gone mental. Anyway... that aside. I must say... the movie was just awesome! JJ Abrams of Alias fame directed it and wow! It was action sequence after action sequence. I was holding my breath most of the time! However, I still do love love love Bourne Supremacy above everything else action-packed. :-D My hats off to you Matt Dillon. But this M:I is I think the best of the three that has come out. Bravo! Philip Seymour Hoffman was great as a villian. Hehe! So cocky!

The Rotten Tomatoes site rates this movie a certified FRESH! 80%! Champion!
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mission_impossible_3/

Anyway, yesterday was Idol night as well. My favorites Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee were ok. The judges were right on the money when they said it was a weird night. Some performances were ok, and others were so-so. I think either Elliot or Paris is leaving tonight. We'll see... Pat has been updating me via satellite! haha! Via Yahoo Messenger rather.

Huge shout out to Pesem! Thank you thank you thank you for proxy! Haha!

Back from Bohol and Cebu

I just got back from my family vacay in Bohol / Cebu. The chocolate hills was a site to behold! Tarsiers were pretty cute, cuddly, and creepy! Imagine that!

I'm pretty frustrated right now with Rommel's computer. It's been such a pain, and I think we need to have it reblasted or something. I'm not sure if this slowness i because of the computer itself or the blog site.

I need to blog the entire vacay!! That's on my o do list for now. So Await, dear readers! The story of our family vacay is coming soon!
